Yeah, seems ive been pimping this Cosplay Mania Convention for a week now, probably because im directly involved in the event and hoping you guys would like to join.

This time its the On-the-spot Costume Building Contest! This is a one of a kind cosplay-related contest where contestants (in the form of teams) try to outdesign, outclass and even literally battle each other out to see who gets to be the Champ Cosplay Builders at the upcoming CBC or Costume Building Contest.

In a nutshell, teams who would want to participate in this challenge is given until September 15 to design a neat costume out of materials mentioned on the Cosplay Mania website CBC section. 6 teams will be chosen from the applicants based on their promised planned rough or final artwork sketch of their costume. On the day itself, the teams will be given materials and will have 5 hours to build it from scratch and would go through a process called The Three Trials, mainly:

>>>The Aesthetics Trial (despite random materials, they churn out a design thats pleasing to the eye)

>>>Creatives Trial where they have to pass two subcategories of that particular trial, mainly the Gimmicks (pre-planned gimmicks promised in their sketch such as flapping wings, extending limbs, twirling etcs) and Performance (making the costume look alive). The last and much anticipated trial is

>>>The Durability Trial where teams battle their opponent's creation with their own and see who gets to dismantle each other first. Its quick and clean and not to the point of annihilation (someone could get hurt doing that).

Join the Cosplay Mania / FilCosplay forum's online art contest featuring the mascots Phil, Cozee and DotPeach. In the spirit of cosplay, you can design your own version of the mascots!

However the artwork has to be submitted under the following conditions:

a) Phil should retain his red hair, blue warpaint beneath his eyes. Color scheme (mostly blue, with white, yellow and black as lesser colors) and symbols (yellow sun with optional 3 stars) should be retained but are free to be reformatted into different styles. Who is Phil?

b) Cozee should retain her dark hair and style of helmet (helmet can be changed into different types as long as it has the antenna and eyepiece). Her uniform must retain her color scheme of mostly red, with white, yellow and black as lesser colors. Who is Cozee?

c) DotPeach must not change in design, but size can be changed (can be smaller or bigger than Phil and Cozee). Who is DotPeach?

d) All mascots can rendered in any form or art style, be it vector, photograph cutout, westernized, or even "chibi" or superdeformed (SD), if preferred by the artist.  You can use any media, but you would have to submit it as a digital copy by scanning it or taking a digital photograph of it (if its a painting, a diorama, 3D cutouts, sculpture or even models dressed up as the mascots). Can even be monochrome or colored. Be sure that the resolution is high (minimum ratio is 2400 x 3000 pixels at 300dpi setting) because if you are one of the winners, your entry will be turned into a tarpaulin banner.

e) Theme can be futuristic, present-modern, medieval, or any other theme where cosplay can be applied.


Mechanics:
1) Registrants must be an active member of the forum with a minimum post count of 10.
2) Registry must be via forum post in a thread created to be specifically accessible to members with 10 posts or more.
3) Specs of artwork must be
-----(a) in full color
-----(b) digital, scanned traditional, photography, photomanipulation or mix medium
-----(c) must include the mascots Phil, Cozee and DotPeach either in the artist's interpretation of their current uniforms or shown as cosplaying particular theme and characters (but must retain their iconic accessories or their facimiles thereof. See above.).
-----(d) Size of artwork must be minimum of 10x8 inches (minimum ratio is 2400 x 3000 pixels) at 300dpi setting (wallpaper type and scale)
-----(e) To be submitted at filcosplay@gmail.com (max mb size must be 5mb to email). Be sure to put in the TITLE of your email BANNER CONTEST, your full name and your forum username. You can also submit via data CD to any cosplay.ph booth in any announced upcoming conventions before Cosplay Mania.
-----(f) each contestant can submit a maximum of 3 entries.
-----(g) Start of contest is on August 5, 2008. Deadline of entries will be on September 15, 2008, at midnight.
-----(h) All entries will be featured at the Cosplay.ph galleries!
-----(h) Winners will be announced and prizes awarded on Cosplay Mania Convention on October 12, 2008.

Contest Chronology:
August 5 to September 15 - submission of entries

September 16 - posting of all entries in the Cosplay.ph Galleries

September 16 to 21 - Top 5 will be chosen by forum moderators

September 22 to October 4 - The top 3 winners will be chosen by forum members via polling system

October 5 to October 11 - First, Second and Third place winners will be chosen by a select panel of judges to be announced on October 12 at the Cosplay Mania event.

October 12 - First, Second and Third place winners will be announced onstage during Cosplay Mania.

Prizes:
First Place winner:
- a framed and signed printed artwork (Phil, Cozee and DotPeach cosplaying characters from PASIG) by Taga-Ilog, artist of PASIG
- a signed replica of his Bucket Helmet
- a tarpaulin copy of the winning banner
- goody bag

Second Place winner:

Basis for disqualification:
1) If more than one forum registry account has the same IP Address, these will be considered clone accounts and all related clone accounts will be disqualified.
2) If more than one forum registry account has the same email address, these will be considered clone accounts and all related clone accounts will be disqualified.
3) If the registered forum account submits more than 3 entries.
4) If the entry is deemed inappropriate by the standards of the contest committee. Entry will be rejected if mascots are portrayed as inappropriate (e.g. extreme violence, nudity, gore, excessive sexual suggestions (innuendo) and symbols, or highly racist or political).
